NCI Foundation
How NCI is offered, what it is not, and the standard for studies that test it.
Last updated 27 September 2026
Neurobiological Cognitive Integration is set out in two preprints that have not been peer reviewed. They report no new data. Their hypotheses are marked as hypotheses and kept separate from the findings they build on, and they close with ten predictions stated so that a specific result would count against the framework.
Part 2 states the limit in its own words (§1.2):
NCI models underlying computational, metabolic, and neurobiological parameters. It does not define medical disease entities, does not substitute for clinical psychiatric or neurological assessment, and is not a clinical diagnostic instrument.
Any study that tests NCI with human participants should have approval from an independent ethics committee, such as an institutional review board, and the participants’ informed consent before it begins. We will not take part in studies without both.
Claims cite the published work they rely on. The site’s sources are listed on the Science page, with DOIs where they exist; the full list of 245 works is in Part 2.
